Lord Jagannath in His chariot along with Balaram & Subadra

The 18th Annual “Sri Jagannath Ratha Yatra” organised by The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Coimbatore on January 16th 2010 and started off with a function held at Venugopal Swami temple near Thermutti. The Lordships Sri Sri Jagannath, Baladev and Subadra Mayi were carried on Palanquins to Thermutti where the 42ft High Ratha was parked.

The Mayor of Coimbatore Sri Venkatachalam inaugurated the Ratha Yatra, in the presence of His Holiness Banu Swami Maharaj, His Holiness Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj, His Grace Basu Gosh Prabh - President ISKCON Baroda, His Grace Sumitra Krishna Prabhu, President ISKCON Chennai & Sri A.M Rajagopal, Editor Kumadam Joditam.

The yatra started from Thermutti at 3.00p.m sharp and passed through Raja Street, Oppanakara Street, Vysial Street , KG street, before culminating at Thermutti.

The Lordships Sri Jagannath, Baladev and Subhadra rode the 42 ft high magnificent chariot . This once in a year festival provided an opportunity to people to get “darshan” of the deities. Hundreds of devotees from all parts of India and abroad participated in the Ratha Yatra festivities. Bhajans,kirtans glorifying their Lordships were sung by various groups of devotees.. Elaborate arrangements were made for the distribution of prasadam along the Ratha Route. After the Ratha Yatra culminated at Thermutti, the deities were shifted to the Padmavathi Cultural Centre for a host of programs. Their Lordships were received grandly with devotees lined up welcoming with lamps and flowers. Public had Darshan on the evening of 16^th January after the Ratha Yatra and whole of 17^th of January,2010 at Padmavati Cultural Centre. Lectures, Kirtans and distribution of Prasadam were the highlights.

Discourses were given by H.H.Bhanu Swami Maharaj, H.H.Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj and His Grace Basu Gosh Prabhu.

A panel discussion on Katiava Dharma, Glories of Holy Name, Prahupada Mission and Vision was held. This was followed by a question and answer session.

H.G. Saravanda Prabhu - ISKCON Pondicherry, H.G. Jagadsakshi Prabhu - President ISKCON Trivandrum, H.G. Sudhir Chaitanya, H.G. Narahari Prabhu from ISKCON Bangalore, H.G. Rukmaya Prabhu- ISKCON Trichi, H.G. Vanamali Prabhu -ISKCON Kumbakonam, H.G. Balram Prabhu & H.G.Narayan Chaitanya Prabu - Madurai are the prominent devotees who participated.
