Sri Nrsimha Caturdasi, was celebrated in a grand manner at the ISKCON Sri Jagannath Temple on 27.05.2010. It is the appearance day of the most ferocious half-man, half-lion avatar of Lord Krishna to protect his pure young devotee, Prahlad Maharaj.

The day started with Mangala Arati at 4.20 AM. The temple hall was vibrantly decorated with flowers, fruits and festoons for the auspicious occasion.

His Holiness Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj held an enlivening class on Srimad Bhagavatam and spoke extensively on the divine qualities of Prahalad Maharaj and the demoniac qualities of Hiranyakasipu. His Grace Nanda Prana Prabhu performed a special Nrsimha Yagna for the speedy recovery of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaj. .

A well coordinated Siksha program by His Grace Madhupati Prabhu, was held at 6.00 pm, for devotees to progress gradually, yet systematically on the spiritual path. There was enthusiastic and encouraging response from devotees, both young and old. The newly inducted “siksha” devotees solemnly promised to keep their commitments to chant the prescribed rounds and other requirements.

As dusk fell on the temple and the shadows became longer, devotees thronged the temple. Led by initiated devotees carrying the Lord’s auspicious staffs, Lord Sri Nrsimha Dev, magnificently bedecked on a palanquin, was taken in a colorful procession around the temple premises. Scores of enthusiastic devotees holding colourful umbrellas, welcomed the Lord amidst chanting of Hare Krishna Maha Mantra, fanning and sprinkling of flowers on Him.

Lord Nrsimha Dev, the protector of Devotees, was then seated on a special asan for the Abhisekam. He was lovingly bathed with milk, honey, ghee, fruit juices and other auspicious substances. Devotees sang melodiously to beating of mridangas and cymbals. On the alter, His Holiness Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj and qualified priests chanted from the Brahma Samhita and other special Vedic mantras and performed the Abhishekam. The early devotees and VIPs among the hundreds, who came to witness the Abhishekam, were fortunate to find places to sit in the packed Jaganath Mandir temple hall.

After the Abhishekam ceremony, the devotees moved to the open space in front of the Hari Nama Mandapam, to hear a lively discourse on Bhakta Prahalad. In his discourse, His Holiness Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj, gave a wonderful account of how Hiranyakasipu become so powerful and the austerities he performed, Prahalad Maharaj’s first instructions received from the sage Narada Muni, his real knowledge about the Lord, in spite of being educated otherwise by the teachers appointed by his father and the glorious appearance of Lord Nrsimha Dev to save his devotee and to restore Dharma. Maharaj also spoke at length on how Lord Nrsimha Dev killed Hiranyakasipu.

Drawing a parallel of Hiranyakasipu with our present day life, Maharaj exhorted every devotee in the audience to destroy the demoniac qualities present in each one and pray for Lord Nrsimha Dev’s mercy for spiritual development.

This was followed by a quick felicitation of the family members of Kirtilal Kalidas - a leading Coimbatore-based Diamond jewelry company based at Coimbatore.

The day ended with devotees attending the Sandhya Arati and a sumptuous prasadam.

ISKCON Coimbatore’s BV Academy yet again conducted FREEDOM - Part 1 of Bhagavad Gita Interactive program from April 12 to 17 at its Gauranga Hall facility in the temple premises. The 6-day session, facilitated by HH Bhaktivinoda Swami, Director, BV Academy was unique in terms of participation: the majority were first year students from top engineering colleges - inquisitive and brimming with deep questions.

The sessions featured multimedia presentations, exercises, skits and dinner delicacies for an all-encompassing experience. During the Sunday Feast festival on April 17th, participants of the session were duly awarded Certificates by Shri M.R.Vasudeva, Director, Coimbatore Airport.

Vishnuu of PSG Tech drew appreciative applause from the crowd when he stated, “In the past 18 years of my academic education, never did I get a chance to even think of who I am. These sessions really made us think!” Sivarama Krishnan of CIT adds, “I got more enlightenment about who I am and who GOD is. It would really help me to be spiritually active for the rest of my days, and I would really wish to spread this consciousness to my friends so that they too can become self-realized and more motivated.”

The next FREEDOM sessions are scheduled for end June/early July. Please contact Gopal Gaura Guru das (880 747 9520) for more information.

Hare Krishna!!!

Obeisances to His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupad!

Hari Bol!!!

The vyasa puja celebration is normally held in Mayapur but this time I am holding it here in Los Angeles because I am taking a treatment to regain my motion, My independent movement. So I like to wish all the devotees around the world my blessings on this Vyasa Puja day. We know that the Vyasa Puja is the celebration of the appearance of the guru, as the representative of Vyasa deva and all the previous acharyas. So through the guru we worship all the previous acharyas. Simultaneously we offer the bhoga to the deity and to the Guru. So in this way we celebrate the Vyasa Puja.

I am very concerned the disciples carry on the mission of His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada which is my mission and that they can take up the preaching spirit with great enthusiasm. I am very greatful for the devotees who helped in serving me on doing this all though one year and for me it is a great austerity not being in Mayapur as that is my Gurudatta desh. But I understand that this is the desire of GBC and devotees and I…. to take the theraphy.

So please Chant Hare Krishna, follow the regulative principles and worship Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. We heard from Srila Prabhupad, how the devotees, how the people, how the western world, the eastern world, all over the world that the people are into good karma and bad karma, but no one or very few are into devotional service. So what we want to do is to invoke the mercy of Lord Chaitanya upon all of them. So that they can get pure bhakti awaken in their heart. Everyone has pure bhakti but this like dormant. So through the devotees we want people to take the opportunity to make full use of this human form of life and to chant Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. In this way they can do the greatest benefit for the falen souls in this kali yuga.

Also we know that one good fragrant flower in the forest can give the good name for the whole forest, so like that in the parampara one good disciple will glorify the whole parampara. So His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad because he took this message around the world. He has created a very good name for the disciplic succession following Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. So we all must be very careful to do the same thing to be a good example of His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, I dont feel myself so qualified but I am trying I am trying my best and I want my disciples, wellwishers, like god brothers, god sisters like everyone also try to do what they can to carry on Srila Prabhupada’s mission. This is my primary message.

But I like to speak better but I am not fully recovered yet. So I am very happy that disciples and devotees all over the world abserving the Vyasa Puja with enthusiasm and I hope that I will be soon able to recover enough so that I can travel and visit all the disciples and all the devotees in various parts of the world. But primarly I want to spend most of my time in India and in Asia which is my Gurudatta Desh but sometimes also visit the Latin America and also other parts of Europe and other parts of America and australia and I like Africa. I would like to also remind the devotees that this time we want to keep ISKCON integrity very strong. We want to keep ISKCON united, there are enemies awho are always trying to divide ISKCON by trying to take off the devotees but we know that Prabhupada wants us to stay together and to stay united. So lets all try to remain very much together serving His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupadaand I am sure that the other senior devotees will be evry happy to extend all the support for you. Here they were very encouraging to me and this is very moving to me that to see how all the God brothers are very much support to me at this time when I am trying to recover from very serious attack. So I need all your cooperation to very strictly follow the Krishna Conscious system and in a regulation and in this way make best use of the human life. We want to go where ever Srila Prabhupada is and to help him in the sankirtan movement but while we are here let us try to do something for His Divine Grace. Always work together and in this way we can we can make the best use of we came to this material world by doing something. Atleast we can save one person and he can go back to krishna and the whole mission according to Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvathi Thakur will be a success.

It is celebrated on the ninth day of waxing moon in the month of Chaitra (March-April).

Lord Rama, who became king of Ayodhya, was known for His exemplary qualities. He was popular, brave, kind, just, intelligent, patient, loving, obedient and dutiful. Lord Rama is always worshiped with his consort Sita, brother Lakshmana and devotee Hanuman.

Rama Navami Starts by 5.00pm with kirtans, bhajans and grand abhisek to the Lord and followed by a Discourse on “Appearance and qualities of Lord Rama” by H.H.Bhakti Vinoda Swami Maharaj. There will be a arati to lord on the occasion of His appearance and prasadam will be distributed to all the visitors and devotees.

Qualities of Lord Ramachandra:

1. Taking His affectionate and sinless brother, Satrughna, who ever slays His foes, Lord Bharata proceeded to the habitation of His maternal uncle.

2. Being affectionately entertained by Yudhajit, the horse master, the righteous prince remained there for some time and received the fond embrace due a beloved son.

3. Bharata and Satrughna abided there in great happiness, having all Their desires gratified, and They always remembered Their elderly father, King Dasaratha.

4. King Dasaratha too, never forgot his absent sons, the heroic Bharata and Satrughna, who resembled Indra and Varuna.

5. Indeed, the emperor held his four mighty sons, who had issued from his body, as dear as his own arms.

6. Of the four, Lord Rama was the king’s most beloved son, and like a Brahma He excelled all others in virtue.

7. Indeed, He was the eternal Lord Sri Vishnu, and had advented Himself in the world of men on behalf of the Devas, who desired the slaying of Ravana.

8. Queen Kausalya had her beauty embellished by her son of unequalled potency, just as Aditi does by Vajrapani [Indra].

9. He was endowed with supernal loveliness and heroism, and was envious of no one. He was a son unequalled in the world, and resembled Dasaratha in the possession of good qualities.

10. He was always tranquil at heart and His speech was gentle— He never spoke haughtily to any man even though He had been reviled.

11. He was often delighted by some small service rendered Him, and being self-possessed, He would forgive hundreds of misdeeds.

12. Lord Rama would converse only with self-realised souls, with those of mature character, with those advanced in spiritual knowledge, and with those advanced in years. He was always available to such persons when He was not under arms.

13. He was intelligent, sweetly spoken, and would always speak first [thus allaying others' nervousness]. He was agreeable and valorous, but was not proud of His heroism.

14. He never spoke an untruth, He offered all respect to the learned and the elderly; the people adored Him, and He loved the people.

15. He was compassionate, mild, and the worshipper of brahmanas. He pitied the unfortunate, was conversant with the principles of religion, was always kind, and was purity personified.

16.Lord Rama always had His family’s well-being in mind. He considered His regal duty to be of great importance, and He contemplated the heavenly reward of such conduct with immense satisfaction.
